  • The Rector is the highest academic authority of the institution and also its legal representative for academic affairs and protocol.

 

  • The Rector should hold the title of “Professor”, and is elected for a term of 4 years, which may be renewed only once in for the same position and institution.
  1. The University Rector has the following functions:
    1. Leads and represents the University in dealings with parties on all academic matters;
    2. Is a member of the Conference of Rectors;
    3. Is the Chairperson of the Senate;
    4. Exerts control on the legitimacy of the managing authorities of the main units;
    5. Signs graduating diplomas for students who successfully completed study programs offered by “Aldent” University.
  2. The University Rector has the following powers:
    1. The University Rector has the following functions:
    2. Leads and represents the University in dealings with parties on all academic matters;
    3. Is a member of the Conference of Rectors;
    4. Is the Chairperson of the Senate;
    5. Exerts control on the legitimacy of the managing authorities of the main units;
    6. Signs graduating diplomas for students who successfully completed study programs offered by “Aldent” University.
    7. The University Rector has the following powers:
    8. Makes suggestions regarding the nomination of the Vice-Rector-s, which are sent for approval to the Academic Senate, and appoints them after approval;
    9. Appoints leiders of main units;
    10. Makes decisions and signs agreements on behalf of the University, for its cooperation with other national and international institutions of higher education, with various associations and different organizations in the interest of the implementation of the academic exchange, sharing of experience and cooperation in the educational process and scientific qualification of the academic staff;
    11. In cases of flagrant or serious violations of law and regulations by a governing authority of a main unit or base unit, the Rector orders his dismissal;
    12. Appoints one of the deputies of the governing authority to replace the dismissed personnel until the election of a new governing authority as foreseen by law;
    13. Approves the calendar plan of academic process for each school year;
    14. Approves scientific-academic staff by determining their annual teaching work load, determining the load for each individual case;
    15. Appoints academic and scientific staff, heads of administrative structures and higher specialists, following the criteria set for filling these positions, based on the requirements of the relevant units, and signs employment contracts of employees appointed by him, according to the definitions of relevant units, and dismisses them in the cases provided by law, in accordance with this Statute and other acts;
    16. Establishes interim committees which are assigned specific tasks;
    17. Issues iinternal orders for the daily operations of the University administration, and decides disciplinary and administrative measures in accordance with applicable law and this Statute;
    18. Delegates his signature rights to one of his subordinates for performing certain tasks, when he deems it reasonable;
    19. Makes the final decision to expel students from the University in cases provided for in the relevant regulations of the students;
    20. Gives permission to the police forces to enter the University premises and may request their presence if necessary;
    21. Announces the recruitment campaign by publishing vacancies; defines and publishes the terms, criteria and procedures for the recruitment of academic and administrative staff; monitors and appeals process of recruiting academic and administrative staff; approves recruitment choices and passes them to the Senate for final approval;
    22. University Rector performs other duties as defined under the legislation in force.
  1. The Rector of “Aldent” University is elected through secret ballot by the Academic Senate, in accordance with the provisions of this Statute and pursuant to the procedures provided in the University Election Regulation.
  2. Individuals who run for the position of Rector could be from the ranks of the academic staff of the University or from outside of it, but they all should hold the academic title of “Professor”. Those coming from outside the University ranks, when elected become members of the academic staff of the institution.

University Rector is elected for a term of 4 years.

  1. University Rector’s mandate ends with the end of the period for which he was elected.
    • Rector’s mandate may end prematurely when he:
    • Resigns;
    • Is deceased;
    • Becomes physically or mentally incapable to fulfill his duties;
    • When his dismissal is decreed;
    • When he is sentenced for committing a penal offense by a final decision of the courts;
  2. In cases determined by this article, early elections are announced by the Senate for electing a new Rector.
